Follistatin 1 mg — Lyophilized Vial 1 mg · 1 vial
For laboratory research only. Not for human or veterinary use.
What is Follistatin?
Follistatin is a binding protein that interacts with activin and other members of the TGF-beta signaling family, including myostatin. It is a protein rather than a simple growth-hormone secretagogue.
Biological activity
By binding these signaling molecules, follistatin can limit their access to receptors. Myostatin normally restrains skeletal-muscle growth, which is why follistatin is investigated in muscle-regulation research.
Purpose and areas of study
Researchers examine how modifying follistatin signaling changes muscle development and related biological pathways. Mouse experiments involving follistatin expression support a role in regulating muscle mass.
Evidence context
The cited genetic-expression work in mice is not equivalent to exposure to a commercial vial. Isoform and biological activity require product-specific confirmation.
Product presentation
One lyophilized vial. Labeled content: 1 mg.
