Epitalon 10 mg — Lyophilized Vial 10 mg · 1 vial
For laboratory research only. Not for human or veterinary use.
What is Epitalon?
Epitalon, also spelled Epithalon, is a synthetic four-amino-acid peptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. It is investigated in cellular-aging research, especially studies involving telomerase and telomeres, the protective structures at chromosome ends.
Biological activity
Experiments in human fibroblast cultures reported telomerase activation and telomere elongation after exposure to Epithalon. Telomerase helps maintain telomeres, but a change in this cellular marker is not the same as demonstrating slower aging in a person.
Purpose and areas of study
Its research purpose is to examine telomere maintenance, cellular proliferation and mechanisms associated with cellular senescence. Researchers can ask whether the peptide changes how cultured cells maintain chromosome ends over repeated divisions.
Evidence context
Telomerase findings in cultured human cells do not establish longer human lifespan or a proven rejuvenation treatment.
